Grammar Skill: Articles – a / an / the
- A and an are articles. A is used with nouns beginning with a consonant sound (e.g., a monkey, a house), while an is used with nouns beginning with a vowel sound (e.g., an elephant, an hour).
- The is used when talking about specific things or things we’ve already mentioned.
